Curriculum plan

Students in Year 7 and 8 follow the national curriculum for key stage 3.

They are in sets according to ability for Maths, English and Science, and are in their form groups for all other subjects.

From 2017 the school has moved to a 5 period day of 1 hour, delivered through a two week timetable.  Time per fortnight is allocated as follows:

YEAR 9

Students in Year 9 start their GCSE courses. In addition to their core subjects, in 2017-18 students had four options to choose from. They were guided onto one of four pathways in accordance with their levels of achievement and target bands.  This is a change from last year, when students had more of a 'free choice'.

 Year 10 Curriculum

Students are continuing with the option choices they started in Year 9.  In addition to this, ICT and RE have been added to two of the option blocks.  ICT has been added as a new option, in addition to Computing.  All students who have done computing in Year 9 will be assessed to see if they would be more successful on the ICT course.  RE has also been added as a new course, for students who would benefit from starting a new GCSE instead of one of their Year 9 options.
