Years 7, 8 and 9
In Years 7, 8 and 9 students are given end of Year 11 Target Bands (1-3, 4-6 or 7-9) for each subject. Each year group has a miniumum of three formal assessments each year. After each assessment, teachers use Assessment Grids to make predictions for the end of Year 11. These predictions are Predicted Bands (1-3, 4-6 or 7-9). We use the terms Exceeeding, Meeting and Developing to compare the Predicted Bands with the Target Bands.
Year 10 to 13
In Years 10 and 11 students are given end of Year 11 Target Grades 9-1 for GCSEs and Distinctions to Passes for vocational subjecrts. Each year group has three formal assessments each year. The assessments are quality assured exam papers with standardisation processes to ensure that data is reliable. Teachers use the assessments to give Current Grades and Year 11 Predicted Grades. We use the terms Exceeding, Meeting and Developing to compare the Predicted Grades with the Target Grades.
Attitude to learning
Teachers also give Attitude to Learning scores for each subject. A students' attitude to learning is broken down into a. their classwork b. their behaviour c. their homework. Students will be rated from 3 (excellent) to 0 (poor) in each subject in each of the above areas. This information will be then combined together to create an average attitude to learning which you can use to gain an insight into your child's attitude to learning.
Parents/carers will receive three Progress Reports each year.
