Year 7 Bewerley Park residential - January 2016
Bewerley Park Residential
A large group of 115 eager Year 7s set off on the morning of Wednesday 27th January to embark on an exciting 3 day residential to Bewerley Park, near Pateley Bridge, along with 10 members of PGS staff. The aim of the residential was to act as a bonding exercise for the students by challenging them in the great outdoors.
The ten working groups were picked at randon, making the students mix with unfamiliar members of the PGS community. The students had to work in teams, communicate and support each other whilst attempting to master four of the following outdoor activities - ghyll scrambling, canoeing, raft building, mountain biking, high and low ropes courses, orienteering, night walks and climbing/scrambling.
The weather was a factor that brought the best out of the students. As you know, last week was very wet and windy and not the best combination for outdoor pursuits. However, the students gritted their chattering teeth and got on with it showing great resilience. There were many stories of heroic deeds and daring actions, that applied to both students and accompanying PGS staff.
Credit goes to all students who learned to work and live together and were fantastic ambassadors of Pudsey Grangefield School.
